The matter budget warns the partner when the work in progress and the invoiced amount get close to the planned amount.
- On the matter lines, enter each line’s Estimated Budget: the matter’s total budget is their sum. For a fixed-fee matter, the package amount is used as the budget.
- On the Matter card, adjust the warning limit, as a percentage (Warning Limit Percent) or an amount (Warning Limit Amount): each one recalculates the other. The default percentage comes from Matter Setup.
- Each time time or expenses are posted, SB Lawyer recalculates the lines’ remaining budget and their Budget Alert.
- When the work in progress and the invoiced amount exceed the limit, Over Limit Budget is selected and a notification shows on the matter card.
