The matter’s invoicing type decides how it’s invoiced: time spent (default), fixed fee (package) or subscription. Everything is set up on the matter card; the matter must be billable.
- The matter has an adjustment line, which carries the difference between the time and the agreed amount.
- For subscriptions, the subscription item is defined in Matter Setup.
- On the Matter card, choose the Package Invoicing Type and enter the Package Amount.
- Enter time as usual.
- On each proforma, if the invoiced amount exceeds the fixed fee, SB Lawyer adds an adjustment that brings the total back to the fixed fee.
The package amount also feeds the matter budget.
- On the Matter card, choose the Subscription Invoicing Type.
- Fill in the starting date, the Invoice Period, the Amount per Period, the Subscription Period and, to invoice at the start of each period, Prepaid.
- The billing schedule is generated; Generate Aging Billing recalculates it if needed.
- On the next invoice date, create the proforma: it tops up the time to the period amount. Select a Period to Invoice lets you choose another period.
- To invoice time on top of the subscription, choose Create Diligences Invoice.
Run Subscription Matter Renewal to extend the subscriptions that are about to expire. A terminated subscription is no longer renewed.
