The rate values each time entry. It’s calculated at entry and fixed on the matter ledger entry: the invoice uses that amount.
- Open the Resource Price List.
- In Type, choose what the rate applies to: a Resource, a Group (job title: partner, associate…) or Everyone, then the Code.
- In Sales Type, choose for whom: Matter, Customer, Customer Price Group or All Customers, then the Sales Code.
- If needed, limit the rate to a Work Type Code (action code), a currency, a unit or a period (Starting Date, Ending Date).
- Enter the Unit Price and, if needed, the Line Discount %.
If no rate matches, the standard rate from the resource card applies.
The calculation mode is set at installation by SB Consulting, in Matter Setup (Calc Res. Price Type):
- Rate ranking: SB Lawyer uses the rate of the most specific level, in this order: Matter, Customer, Customer Price Group, All Customers. At the same level, a resource’s rate comes before its group’s, and a rate that specifies the currency, unit or action code comes before a general rate.
- Best unit price: SB Lawyer uses the most favourable rate for the customer, as standard Business Central does.
¶ Check and update rates
- Print the Matter Pricelist to check a matter’s rates.
- Time already entered keeps its rate. After a rate change, run Resource Unit Price Update for the period you want: time not yet invoiced is revalued. Your timesheet must be empty.
On the Matter card or on a matter line, Allowed Actions limits the action codes offered when entering time and expenses.
